Here you can find our open funding opportunities for research and innovation projects under the SPARC Research and Innovation Facility.
About the SPARC Research and Innovation Facility
The SPARC Research and Innovation Facility provides funding for research that identifies, evaluates, and assesses promising initiatives and innovations to strengthen the resilience of farmers, pastoralists and agro-pastoralists within the context of climate change, recurrent and protracted crises and conflict in the drylands of Africa and the Middle East.
Through the generation of evidence on what works, how, for whom, and under what circumstances, we aim to improve the effectiveness of policies, programmes, and investments that support the resilience of millions of people living in agricultural, pastoral and transitional communities.
What we fund
Funding is oriented towards:
Research that generates practical knowledge from emerging evidence and rigorous assessments on how to rebuild and increase the resilience of dryland livelihoods for women and men (pastoralist, farmers, and agro-pastoralists) in the context of climate change, recurrent and protracted crises and conflict.
Research on what impacts existing and emerging interventions are having on markets, livelihoods and economies and natural resource management, and how they are in turn influenced by conflict and security, human mobility and climate variability, and change dynamics.
Evaluative research on existing social and technological innovations (products, services, processes, business models, and technologies that have shown proof of concept) in the dryland context to inform pathways to scale.
