Despite efforts to link humanitarian responses and development programming, gaps in effectively aligning and
integrating the two aids still exist. How can we move towards effective integration?
On 7 May 2024, the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Jameel Observatory for Food Security Early Action, and Supporting Pastoralism and Agriculture in Protracted Conflict (SPARC) held a workshop to examine factors and practices that enable or inhibit integration and alignment in the humanitarian-development-resilience nexus, including a reflection on barriers that exist in integrating humanitarian responses and resilience programs in response to drought emergencies in the Horn of Africa.
The dialogue brought together representatives from donor organizations, UN agencies, international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), research centres, governments, local NGOs, Inter-Agency Working Group (IAWG), the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and humanitarian agencies.
